What does everybody think of televangelists such as Benny Hinn? Are they frauds? I think what Benny Hinn did was wrong, and even though he's probably one of the more famous frauds, he's certainly not the only one. I remember that I didn't know anything about Benny Hinn and then I saw a story about him on television, and I was so sickened that I just sat there and cried. How cruel... anyway, if anybody has any thoughts or opinions that they'd like to share about Benny Hinn or other fraudulant televangelists, I'd love to hear them.

Rylee,
Satan is going to get his hands into every aspect of Christian life. Including television. And he has his tools that he's going to use to deceive.
One must remember that just because a person has charisma, doesn't mean they're telling the truth. A person can be a good speaker, but that doesn't mean the words coming from them are words to live by.
There are, in my opinion, several ministers on television who are legitimate. But ones like Benny Hinn ruin the reputations of all. Television is a good medium for reaching many people. Especially shut in's and the such. But one has to be extremely careful these days not to be deceived.
Anyone who makes "prophecies" that do not come to pass are definitely fakes and should be avoided. I believe Oral Roberts, in tears, claimed that if he did not receive 2.5 million dollars that God was going to strike him dead. He didn't get the money, and he's still kicking. So that is evidence of the man's honesty. It was a very theatrical performance to say the least. Problem is... good, honest, caring Christian people sent money in to this man with the best intentions only to find out later they were conned. And that's a sad thing.
I'd like share something with you. I deal with Wiccans and pagans in my ministry. Unbelievers watch Christians more than people might think. And these unbelievers have shared their opinions with me often. When they see a Tammy Faye Baker or a Jim Baker, an Oral Roberts, a Benny Hinn, a Jimmy Swaggart, or a Rod Parsley, they see "Christianity" . A bad representation of it, but nevertheless, that's Christianity to them. What a terrible representation of Christ that is being portrayed. And such people, doing the things that they're doing, keep unbelievers away from Christ. Just because a person is a Wiccan, a pagan, an unbeliever, doesn't mean they are not intelligent people. They know when someone is trying to dupe them. With this being so, it makes it harder to share the true Gospel with them and convince them of it's truth. Do you see?
I do have respect for the Billy Graham's and the Greg Laurie's of the world who sincerely preach the right stuff. And it saddens me that the fraudulent people of the world stain the good works of these men who are trying real hard to present the Gospel on television.
Let's be careful folks. For in the end times, even the elect will be deceived.
Thank you.

"Let's be careful folks. For in the end times, even the elect will be deceived."
Mar 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
I think that is the verse you are quoting....frauds like Benny Hinn will deceive many, many who call themselves "christians", but not all who call themselves christians are the "elect". That verse does not say the elect will be deceived, but says if it were possible to do so, they would "seduce" even the elect. Or in other words lead them away from the true gospel, to run after signs and wonders performed by these imposters. But the "elect are not deceived or seduced, neither do they fall away...
Heb 10:39 But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.
Rylee..I think you answered your own question about Benny Hinn.....He is both an imposter and a fraud, and is along with countless others like him, or who follow him that demonstrates that we are witnessing end time conditions in the churches today....
Mat 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Rev 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

I don't know everything about Benny Hinn, or other T.V. Evangelists, but I will say this - I was at a Benny Hinn crusade in Toronto Ontario... and you could feel God's presence there. Now whether or not it was Benny Hinn that was helping, doesn't matter - the fact is that when two or more Christians are gathered in His name...There He will be also. God was in that place, and sure, there may be things that Benny Hinn does wrong - but who are we to look at him and judge, when if given the chance, can we say for SURE that we would not do those things ourselves? There are alot of people that are on T.V. that I think are amazing. The Miracle Chanel (Is from Lethbridge, Alberta...I do believe)... has alot of very good Tele-Evangelists on it. I do believe that in the end, going to church and having true fellowship with other believes is much better then listening to a sermon on t.v... But we can't say that all of them are bad, or judge them based on what media spins around. Just my thoughts, feel free to comment... I'm open to any comments about what I've said!
I'm going to say this about that.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Phil. 4:8
God is GOOD. So keep your FOCUS on GOD.

I understand that God is the only one with authority to judge, however, we should be made aware of what he (Benny Hinn) does, and who he 'really' is, instead of just blindly following him.
In answer to your question: Yes. I can say with complete certainty that I would never, if given the opportunity, take advantage of my 'power' and the situation, and do the horrible things that he has done.
I'm also confident that many others on this site can say the same about themselves.
