Hello Nite Owl, The verses referred to on this subject are Rev 12:3-4 and 7.
And there appeared another wonder in heaven, and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and seven horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth:.....
And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels.
This reference to 'stars' as angels is typical of the symbolism that our Bible is rich with.

Judges 5 :20 is also a reference of angels referred to as stars."They fought from heaven : the stars in their courses fought against Sisera"
Now that revelation knowledge has been shared, please do a study on the word 'stars' and see what else will reveal itself to you. This will probably lead you into more interesting subjects that heretofore were confusing. IE Same Chapter 12:1. A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:
So if we understand the stars to be angels, what do the moon and sun represent? This is where Bible studys get interesting and deep. Seek and ye shall find.

Yes Potters is right with Rev 12 verse 4 and then further on verse 9 it says So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth and his angels were cast out with him

Potters house, and angel are right, the passage normally referenced as referring to the time when Satan and his angels were cast out of heaven..maybe I could add a few more thoughts to further confuse you..:-)

Rev 12:4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

note that the dragons tail drew a third part, or 1/3 of the "stars of heaven" and cast them to the earth...

Rev 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Rev 12:8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.

now remember the stars were cast to earth, but the war was in heaven, and satan was there with his angels... the stars were cast to the earth, but then it says satans angels were in heaven making war...hmmm....

Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

here again we satan and his angels cast out into the earth.. are these angels really the same thing as the stars?? did they get cast to the earth twice..once by satans tail, and once by michael and his angels?? Or are the stars that were cast down by the dragons tail, someone other than angels..?

Oh, and one more thing...:-) what else does the bible say about .."1/3" thats a pretty important piece of information...take a look at that too...:-)

Revelation 12:9 is where it says the angels fell with satan, as too the percentage, "The Moody Handbook of Theology" says this. "Satan fell from his exalted position. As the annointed cherub Satan led a host of angels, possibly one-third of all the angels, from heaven in his fall." He then cites Ezekiel 28:16-17 and Revelation 12:4.

Honestly, the Ezekiel passage did not make a whole lot of sense to me, at least in regards to angels falling. The Revelation one is in the middle of the passage talking about Satan as a dragon and refers to his tail "sweeping down a 1/3 of the stars in heaven and casting them to earth."

Interesting stuff, take it or leave it!

Yes talking about 1/3 it also mentions in Revelation 9 verse 13 "so the four angels who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. Then verse 18 talks about "By these three plagues, a third of mankind was killed-by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone which came out of their mouths. Mmmmmmmm scary stuff!! :( I think I need you to explain that part although I have a fair idea! Thank you!

Referring to Blue's mention of third yes having been doing some reading also Revelations 8 verses 7,8,9,10,11 and 12 all talk about a "third"Makes for very interesting reading! All to do with opening up the seventh seal.
