well... here it is... the before and after pics... I decided that 2006 is the year I will be making some changes in my life... My news years resolution was to find a way to match the new life I have now as a single mom with the way I feel. Dump the frump slump... (my rather clever personal motto... LOL)

You look beautiful, I will be praying for you in your new year's resolution. I have made a similar decision lately because God is shining out from the inside now. Way to go, girl!!

I am sorry to hear of such news that ye are a single Mom. Much prayer is then needed for the father who shall be judged of such a sin(I'm assuming the worst). Nevertheless to stay on topic, Nice hair! It is no doubt a blessing. BUT! Heed warning sister, outward changes are vanity, inward have eternal benefications torwards our Lord Jesus Christ.

Hey lovetowrite76,
I think you are very courageous to have "done the deed". Like the others I think it looks quite fantastic and such a beautiful colour as well! :-D May this year see you making more new changes if this is what God has in mind for you. I will pray also that this year will have some real blessings for you and your child lovetowrite and will pray that God will constantly guide you in your daily walk with Him. My brothers girlfriend has hair as long as your before picture. We always pick on her that we are going to cut it all off.( Lol)
Your hair looks great. THere is such a difference between your before and after photo!!!! It looks AWSOME!!!!!!! I hope you have a blessed day and a great year in 2006.

Just a few comments about a womans hair..:-) seems I always have a few comments...
I grew up in a church that besides long hair also required the women to wear a covering, a hat or bonnet, something like that. Some women wore it all the time, and some only when they went to church. This is I believe is one of those times when people confuse the symbol as if it is the real thing. Just like a womans hair is given to her for a covering, people quite quickly jump to the conclusion that her hair is what is the issue. National Israel was given the Law of Moses and decided that that was the way of righteousness, to keep every jot and tittle of the law and then they would be righteous before God. But the Bible makes it clear that we are not declared righteous by our own righteousness, but by the righteousness of Christ, imputed to us, according to Gods purpose.
The point that is being made about a womans hair, is not her hair, but what her hair is pointing to..that is the order of creation, or the order of authority.
1Co 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
The bible teaches us that there is a progression of authority, or headship. Children are under the authority of their parents. The woman is under the authority of the man. The man is under the authority of Christ. Christ is under the authority of God Himself.
The illustration of a womans hair as it was used by Paul, was simply to illustrate that headship over her, as well as the headship over the man. Even as it is a shame for a woman to have no hair, (meaning that if a woman goes bald for whatever reason, it seems unnatural, and normally a woman would use a wig or something because they are embarassed by their unnatural condition) it is also a shame to her to attempt to come out from under that authority that God has placed over her. Even as it is a shame for the man to presume to come out from under the authority over him. This would be illustrated by a man growing his hair long like a woman, it would imply that he was rejecting the authority over him and exchanging it for another.
There is a parrelell passage in the oldtestament, within the law of moses that still adds to this principle today if we will hear it.
Deu 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
This law was pointing to the fact that the man and the woman were not to trade their order. In other words the man was not to assume the place of a woman..that is to place himself under the authority or headship of women, neither was the woman to attempt to usurp the position of a man and rule over or have authority over men. You notice such a thing is an abomination to God, a terrible evil.
Again in the new testament there is another verse that further strengthens this idea..
1Co 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 1Co 6:10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Often when people see that word effeminate they think of homosexuals, but in this passage, abusers of themselves with mankind, refers to homosexuals. Those referred to as effeminate, refer to those men who willingly come out from their God ordained position under Christ himself, and place themselves under the headship, or under the authority of a woman. The scripture is plain..they shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Could this refer to those men who submit themselves to a woman pastor???? hmmm..I wonder....a very serious question.
So April, the question here is not what length of hair is appropriate for you...whether it should be to your knees or your shoulders, or even shorter. The question you face is, Are you living in subjection to that authority God has placed over you? That is the question God places before you, and I. May each of us be faithful as we serve him, to his glory.

blue heron... I am just wondering... why the bible study on authority? Are you implying that by me cutting my hair I am not in submission to God's authority?

I am implying nothing April... but your question whether it is right or wrong for you to cut your hair, from a biblical context has everything to do with authority, and much less to do with your hair. That is a question for you to answer not me..

Well little did you know that just cutting your hair would turn into such a big topic huh? When men want their hair cut they just go the barbers - no problem! When you mention getting your hair cut you get so much more!! :-D lol although originally you did ask people what they thought because of the way you were brought up. I don't think you had it cut because of vanity and I have my hair cut every 6 weeks!! God bless you and your little one. :)

Actually, blueheron, that was another thread... I didn't ask for right or wrong here... I thought it would be obvious that since I DID cut it, I determined in my own heart, and through points made here, and personal study of the Bible, that it is NOT wrong... LOL No hard feelings though... I'm more amused than anything... ;-)
