Wil You Forgive?
Biting on my lower lip
Yet no blood is drawn
They say guilt is a wasted emotion, but that doesn’t mean its not there
I sometimes even lose the heart to pray
I often need a template, as I lose the words I want to say
So scared to face you, knowing I’m so unworthy
So frustrated by the world, and my desire to change it
When I’m hardly a saint, even against the worst
I’m longing to share your word, with those not knowing I betray it
Why can’t I simply put a hold on temporary thrills?
Choose the one who made me over all else?
Some things have a funny way, when getting the best of you
Will you forgive? I know it says you will, but I feel so condemned
It seems inevitable that I will forsake you repeatedly
Lord, help me to stand up to this ulcer and fall before your remedy
I don’t want to feel so cut off from your love
So far from the one who sits closely above.
