View Full Version : To all married men.......

Today we live in a time where marriage is no longer what it should be. We hear day after day about divorce rates and single parent homes. They are much higher than they should be. But where does it start? It starts with you. God said

Genesis 2:24
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Even since day one we were told that we were to have a wife and that we would be one flesh with her. No longer would we be two people but would become as one. Sometimes men forget this. We become selfish or contoling of what we have, not doing what we should and seeing our wifes as equal and as partners in this thing we call marriage.

Ephesians 5:28
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

God has told us that we are to love our wives as our selves. You would not dare treat your self in some of the ways you treat you wife would you? How would your body feel if you were constently beating it up verbaly or God forbid physicaly? You wouldln't last very long. Some of us work out and and make sure we are healthy because it is good for our body. But what about having a wife that we should work just as hard at? Sometimes we forget that it takes hard work in marriage to make it healthy just like our bodies. Maybe even harder than that. But trust me the rewards are much greater. It is no longer becomes me and you, but instead you have now become us.

1 Peter 3:7
Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

How many sit down and pray with their wives? I'm sure many of you would say not as much as i should. We worry about our sex lives and worry about things of this live, but do we ever worry about how prayer is effecting our relationship with our wife? God calls us heirs together. The greatest think that you can do with your wife is pray. It's not going to a movie or dinner or things in the bedroom. Prayer is the key to a stable and happy marriage. Those who pray together stay together. Make it a priority.

Proverbs 18:22
Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

God call a wife "A good thing." He doesn't say that things will always be good with here, just that she is a good thing. If i would change anything in the Bible(which i wouldn't)i would change the word good to "Great". What do wifes bring you? Love, companionship, partnership, freindship and list goes on and on. Once a man realizes that his wife is a "good thing", good things will come to that marriage, even one in turmiol.

So your asking yourself wow, this guy must have a great marriage. But the truth is that i am not married at all. God has put a burden on my heart for married men, something i hope to be some day soon. Even in your worst our with your wife give god praise for your good thing. If your going through a storm give God the glory in the midst of it. It will only make your marriage stronger. The devil seeks to still, kill and destroy from anyone he can. If he can break up a marriag built on the name of Jesus Christ he has won.

But we do not fight this fight alone. Jesus will be our strength and our shelter from the storm. Give your marriage over to him and let him fight the battles. I assure you he can fight them better than you or I. God Bless You All and may God Bless Your Marriage!!!

Pro 12:4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

Pro 31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Pro 31:11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
Pro 31:12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Pro 31:13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
Pro 31:14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
Pro 31:15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
Pro 31:16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
Pro 31:17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
Pro 31:18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
Pro 31:19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
Pro 31:20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
Pro 31:21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Pro 31:22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
Pro 31:23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
Pro 31:24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Pro 31:25 Strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
Pro 31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
Pro 31:27 She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Pro 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Pro 31:29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Pro 31:30 Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Pro 31:31 Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

OneJoe, thank you for the scriptures. They will help me in further understanding the subject of marriage. It was not meant to say that women have nor responsibilities but only that men should have more. I lost my father when i was very young because of anger and cheating. Most of the post on this board are of a cheating man. I just hope that through the scriptures and Jesus us men can learn to love our wives more and more each day. God Bless!!
