Many times today the worship of a church is designed for the people. Central to worship are whether it pleases and is interesting not just to the members, but even to the world.
But worship is for God, and He determines how we should worship Him. He is central. Unbelievers will be convinced He is worthy only if His people treat Him as holy and worthy of all worship, obedience and loyalty. Even in preaching, what can God do for people is not central, but what is due Him from every creature.
What do you say? How should we determine was is good in worship, and what is not?

What do you say? How should we determine was is good in worship, and what is not? my personal opinion is that it has to be a communication between god and you...People now days think that certain types of music is bad..because some really are....it has a lot to do with the words in the song also....some think rock and roll is bad too. I disagree with that because if it is from your heart to gods then there is nothing wrong with it..but if your doing it for the head bangging then there is no point in worship..praising him is a way for him to come in and work in our lives...a way that we can communicate to him...do you think that there are different denominations in heaven...no!!...only those who worship the true and living god....do you think that there is limits on the types of worship..no!! as long as there is a communication from that person to god within the heart....but there are types of worship that are wrong...and you can even tell just by the words....but anywayz god bless!!!!!!!!

Worship is more than just music and style of music, and I believe it is more than communication between God's people and God.
I believe we should get our instruction and example from Scripture. God told the Israelites how to worship Him, and while we no longer make sacrifices, we can tell that God expected to be treated as holy, with reverence and care. The point of the worship was not to lift peoples emotions (though if they are right with God it will), it was to worship God God's way. Innovation was dealt with severely.
We find examples of the reading of God's word, prayers, praise, hymns and spiritual songs, and preaching the truth of God's word with exhortation, instruction and encouragement and even rebuke. There is no example of entertainment or anything done for the pleasing of men, especially not men who are not believers.

Here is what I have noticed. The pulpit has been replaced with a stage, Ephesians 5:19 has been replaced with the concert, and 1 John 2:15-17 comes into light and is evident all day long.

I just had a really awesome worship experience last Sunday in church. We just got into the worship, and we could all just feel the presence of the Holy Spirit in a way that was so strong, it was just GLORIOUS!!! Our pastor went to the microphone and said "I don't think we're going to have a teaching today, let's just worship our Lord, because we have such a great presence of Him right now! It's very rare that we get such a gift as this annointing, so let's just go with what I feel is His will, and keep on singing and pray our hearts out for Him!"
So I think worship can also lead us into direct communication with God, not just the other way around! Or is that what you just said? I'm sorry, it's really late! There were two great prophecies that day and I'm just so honored that I even got to be in that presence :-)

If we individually feel that in whatever way, we are praising and worshiping God, then do it!
God asks us to say thank you and praise Him; which can be done in many ways! each to their own......I have ways that i prefer and enjoy, that of a carasmatic prayer group for example and singing worship hymns in my car, but each totheir own!
