Why do people say God bless you?

I know that saying "bless you!" to a person after they sneeze is manners but, why? Why do reverends walk up to people, shake hands with them and then say "God bless you"? This sounds rood, but what did we ever do right to deserve a blessing??? Anyone know?? I love your opinions!!!!

Hey rsm, as christians we are entitled to Gods blessings. Of course we havent done anything to deserve it but bcos we are saved and are Gods children he protects us and blesses us lyk any Father would
